Why a startup studio?

In our case with Gurulab, we decided not only to create new ventures from scratch but also joint ventures with corporates in Africa to help them innovate using software, Big Data, AI and Blockchains as leverage.

Knowing that building a startup is a long and difficult process, why a normal person would like to build multiple startups at a time?

The first reason is passion. Only passion can drive you through such a crazy path. Passion for innovation, passion for solving problems that matter, passion for tech, passion for people…

The second reason is the business model. What is the business model of a startup studio? By the way, this is the second most asked question by people when they first hear about startup studios. Since nobody would like to invest in such a thing at an early stage, most startup studios are self-funded. So your job as a startup studio founder is to create as early as possible profitable businesses. And to do that, you need to have a well-defined business model for each startup you create.

What does that mean? You build faster, you learn faster and eventually are profitable faster.

The last reason I see to create a startup studio is for the human relation part of it. I’m doing Gurulab because I’m doing it why people I always wanted to work with and I enjoy working. If you wanna build your own studio, the first thing to should be the team. Build a core team with a diversity of skills where everyone grows together and have fun.
