Introspection

Introspective self-examination
Needs. desires and motivations
Assessing why I do things I do,
Better understanding who I am
Beneath my own persona shown.

Winter brings me to myself
Biting cold and shorter days
Barren trees and wilting plants,
Compassion for homeless seen
Pummeled lives, no place to go.

Compassion for myself as well
Sufferings I’ve had to overcome
People I’ve helped along the way,
Appreciate opportunities given me
As others struggle for food to eat.

Enjoying most of what I do
Writing, reading, taking hikes
Traveling to interesting places
Enhancing how I see the world,
Composites forming who I am.

Looking deeply within myself,
Introspection, self-compassion.
