Brunch at Bombyx by Jim Thompson

Greetings! This is my first review in 2018. I’d like to taste some nice Thai cuisine at Bombyx which is operated by Jim Thompson. The restaurant is at M floor of Siam Paragon department store. I booked for 2 at 12.00pm.

Start with the drinks, I ordered South African’s Rooibos tea (140+ Baht). The tea has a tantalizing aroma with some sweetmess. Really enjoy drinking! It was also served with a small piece of cookie.

My friend had Naked Elixir (190+ Baht). Kind of lime juice.

Time for mains, start with my “Khao Phad Nam Prik Long Ruea” (320+ Baht) or Chilli paste fried rice. The spiciness were adapted to suit foreigners trying this dish. Although I’m Thai, I can taste only little spicy which makes me really like this dish. It was served with some sides. Deep-fried catfish were light and crispy. Sweet chicken is so-so. Vegetable are fresh. Love it!

Next is “Khao Soi Soba Ped Yang” (280+ Baht) or curried soba noodles with grilled duck. Grilled duck have some strange odor and a little bit too dry for me. For the curry, it’s too bland. Although adding the sides provided, the taste doesn’t improved. Not quite recommend.

For dessert, we had Banana and Salted Caramel Tart with Passion Fruit and Banana cream (250+ Baht). This dish is “too banana”. I can feel a strong feeling of “banananess” in my mouth. I won’t eat any banana for a certain length of time after having this.

For conclusion, this restaurant worth a try. I ordered just their rice dished or noodle which have limited choice to choose. There are still lots of sides such as salad, soup or starters that I hadn’t try it. The reason behind dining here is I’ve got eatigo 50% discount which is worth for a beautifully-decorated restaurant with good location in the middle of Siam area and the discounted price were affordable. But if I need to dine with the full price, this restaurant may not be my alternative to dine again.
