INTERNATIONAL GIRL CHILD DAY with TECH GIRLS

Revolution for gender equity and empowerment of every girl child has been honored with a global day, October 11, by the United Nations 25 years ago after some 30,000 women and men from nearly 200 countries arrived in Beijing, China for the fourth World Conference on Women. The Conference was determined to recognize women’s rights as human rights.

This day has been specifically dedicated to celebrating every girl child, sensitizing them, and campaigning for their rights internationally. The stigmatization and low expectation placed over every girl child is of the day of our forebearers and the pachyderms.

While having a session with Dr. Aderonke Sakpere, the founder of the TECH GIRLS’ CLUB, she made it known that the statistics of females is low compared to the males in almost all fields especially the field of computing and technology which can be referred to as the most growing field in the world. This was what sprang up the creation of TECH GIRLS’ CLUB in the year 2019.

She added that the computing and technology field is of wide and exciting areas as it discriminates no one, knowledge nor gender from practicing in the field. She, therefore, urges every girl child out to stand up, break barriers, and make wins as they have what it takes to be a winner in any field at any level.
