I Enjoyed Latin

Amo, amas, amat!

I still use the phrase, “et tu Brute,” referring to one of my all-time favorite aftershaves.

And my above text book cover was an example of the absolute worst torture a father can give a child, the dreaded HORSE BITE.

Of course, to threaten your child with it, the word must be run-together, using the deepest, most exaggerated southern accent you can… HORSBIIIIIIITE! They will run screaming, shielding their elbows and knees from you, the ersatz adult.

I enjoyed Latin so much, I spent five years conjugating nouns and declining verbs all through high school and into the university, where I discovered it did not dovetail with my intense leisure arts curriculum.

It was an incredibly tough decision to quit taking Latin at that point, but it had brought me along and prepared me for the larger piscis I had to fry.
