The Truth Hurts

And a background GC process made sure they were in sync, because the “sync” method had a bug(s?) in it somewhere. (Incidentally, there was a perfectly logical for pretty much each of the above steps…

Childcare Leaders Endure

I know the word endurance sometimes is not seen in the most enlightening light, but it can be when it is connected with achievement. According to Merriam-Webster endurance means the ability to withstand hardship or adversity; especially: the ability to sustain a prolonged stressful effort or activity.

As a leader your ability to endure lye within your ability to lead. As a leader, you must be able to invoke the principles of the 4P’s of leadership into your everyday lifestyle personally and on the job. The 4P’s are planning, preparing, prioritizing, and processes. You may not know this, but you use at least one of these every day, however, it is when you use all of the 4P’s habitually brings strength to your leadership and therefore endurance.

While working with many Childcare Leaders, I found that even though they have the heart to be a leader, they do not have access to the tools or information that will make them not just a leader but a great leader. One of those tools is knowing, understanding, and implementing the 4P’s of Leadership. So let us dive more into what the implementation of the 4P’s of Leadership will look in the childcare setting. We will begin with planning.
We have emergency plans for fire, inclement weather, and intruders. We have lesson plans and substitute plans but did you know that everything should be planned out no matter what it is? The planning should involve what if’s also. It should also include everyone involved who will make the plan productive and successful. The plan should have a backup plan. For example: If one is planning an outside event it should also be planned with the weather in mind. What if it rains or it is to is extremely hot? Where would you move the event too? What kind of accommodations will have to made if the event moves? Will you move it to another date? Etc. Remember this; a plan is not a plan unless it is written out in details. Anyone who picks up your project should be able to carry it out without very little struggles.

I know what you are saying when do I have time to make these detail plans? When a leader fails to plan you are planning to fail. Your team depends on your leadership during every event directly or indirectly meaning rather you are directly responsible for the planning or not. Planning allows you to focus the project so that it can be productive in the end; it helps you save time because you have strategically looked at from all angles, it allows you to bring others into the process of planning allowing them to feel ownership in the project.

Planning helps the leader and their team to endure through hard times and situations because they have already anticipated possible mishaps and solutions during the planning process, of course, you will not be able to predict everything, but those that you can you should. You as the leader is also developing leadership skills in those who are on your team and as leaders, we should always be growing other leaders. When leaders are enduring, they see achievement.
